Stonehenge and Bath

This was another one of our day trips. We got up early in the morning, boarded a bus and went out to see Stonehenge on our way to Bath. This was a great experience, and learned way more than I needed to about these stones that are laying in the middle of a barren field. To connect our trip it is interesting that the inner "blue stones" were taken from the Preseli Mountains, which happen to be right by the Preseli Ventures site in Wales. This is an impressive sight, but not one that I would spend an entire day going to see.

Pairing this trip with Bath is pretty interesting. Bath is an old Roman town that was built because it is the sight of a natural hot spring. This town is pretty cool and hosts some interesting venues including the Roman Bath Houses, the pump house (where you can taste the healing hot spring water straight from the source), one of the only bridges left in Europe with shops on it, and many other interesting points.

I will add some pictures from these locations when I have access to all of them.

The only photo that I have seen is one of the actual stones. How far are the stones from transportation? I hear that they now are roped off. Are you able to get very close?

Everyone knows that I like rocks - but I think I will just take your word for Stonehenge, not take any time for this and just enjoy the photos.

Apparently, you can request a pass to go directly up to the stones, but now they are essentially roped off. You are probably 50-100 feet away from them. The transportation drops you off just on the other side of the road from them and you walk about 100 meters to get to them. Not far at all. They are cool, but look just like the pictures (imagine that).

Did you take a picture? I want to make sure that it looks like the pictures that I saw. Your Dad only likes rocks that he can drag back with him. These are too big.

Haha. Of course we took pictures at Stonehenge...that about all there is to do there. There is a tiny bit of history, but not much. It really is only about a 30 minute stop on your way to the bustling town of bath (that was said with sarcasm)

The photos add so much to the commentary. Thanks for adding these.
